The year was 2003. Temecula Wine Country was continuing to revitalize its standing as a major wine growing area after Pierce’s disease wiped out the majority of the vines in the 90’s. Dito and Jeanne Diez purchased a five acre plot of land in the middle of Temecula Wine Country and moved their family out to the mountains. While living in Temecula, they constantly went on trips to Paso Robles and Napa, CA to acquire smooth, delicious tasting wines.

In 2012, they met a local winegrower in Temecula by the name of Jeff Sanders with Purely Corrupt Vineyards. The two families soon became close friends and Dito and Jeanne would assist Jeff in every step of the winemaking process. Dito instantly fell in love with the art of creating wine from one’s own hands.

Fast forward to 2014 – Dito and Jeanne planted a few varietals of their own to add to Jeff’s barrels. Soon enough, they were hooked. They added more varietals with each coming season, and not long after a barrel room was constructed to store their own wines. 2015 was the first year wines were produced at 2156, and they were absolutely splendid. As years passed and more vintages came out, Dito began to enter them in competitions, and was blown away by the positive reactions he received.

After winning a multitude of awards, 2156 has continued to focus on crafting full-bodied reds with smooth, creamy finishes. As head winemaker, Dito has created a welcoming location for any who wish to learn the entire process of winemaking. He uses his experience to help other winemakers get started on their own journeys to begin crafting delicate, delicious wines.
